Main purpose and scope of the job:

 

  • To safely install, repairing and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment.
  • To satisfy tenants through courteous and efficient work.
  • To maintain the Association’s assets.
  • To contribute to the overall development of South Shropshire Housing Association’s quality housing service.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • To ensure that all electrical apparatus is safe at all times.
  • To fixing new and replacing existing wiring, including the fitting of plugs, sockets, junction boxes, cooker power points, light fittings, light switches, immersion heater and central heating controls and storage heaters, etc.
  • To estimate material requirements for this work.
  • To cut, thread and bending conduit, plastic and metal.
  • To fit electrical systems by drilling, cutting, chasing out wood and brickwork and making good afterwards including plastering chased out sections.
  • To test electrical systems for safety and fault finding.
  • To fit and maintaining security systems.
  • Competent use of a PDA for business needs
  • To complete stores requisition sheets.
  • To record information which accurately describes work executed on site.  (This would be used in the collation of Performance Bonus Payments and the raising of invoices to the customer.)
  • To complete weekly timesheets and vehicle sheets.
  • To participate in the continuing development of the Total Response Ltd.
  • To take responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself and others within the workplace
  • To undertake any other tasks from time to time commensurate with the grading and general nature of the post.
  • To uphold the Equalities and Diversity Policy of the Association.

 

Qualifications:

  • To hold a current valid driving licence.
  • To be conversant with the building trade.
  • To hold a minimum of 3 GCSE’s in English, Maths and one other subject or equivalent.
