Job Description

Based in Wem, Shropshire

BRIEF DUTIES OF POST

  1. To safely undertake works related to Groundwork, Drainage, Fencing,  Brickwork, Slab Laying, Tarmacing, Concreting and General Building work or as directed
  2. To ensure high levels of customer care through courteous efficient work
  3. Be prepared to work flexible hours to meet the Associations void turn around times via our flexible working policy
  4. To maintain the Association’s Assets
  5. To contribute to the overall development of Meres and Mosses/ South Shropshire Housing Association’s quality housing service
  6. Undertake any relevant training required to maintain a Road Opening Licence of the County Council
  7. Actively promote source and undertake private works on behalf of the  Association
  8. To be aware of personal health and safety at work and to contribute to and follow safe methods of working practice
  9. To contribute to the overall development of Total Response Limited’s business

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ground works including fencing, drainage repairs, excavation and ground clearance.
  2. Tarmacing to both County Council adopted highways and pavements and the Association’s Assets.
  3. Concreting and slab laying including any base work preparation.
  4. General building work including stone work, brick work, re-pointing.
  5. General re-roofing work including flat roof replacement.
  6. Basic electrical work including setting trips, changing fuses, bulbs and tubes.  This will require a basic knowledge of the electricity regulations, ring main systems and bonding/earthing.
  7. To maintain own tools.
  8. To estimate material requirement for all above work.
  9. To complete store requisition sheets via PDA
  10. To record information which accurately describes work executed on site (this would be used in the raising of invoices to the customer)via PDA.
  11. To complete weekly time sheets and vehicle sheets via PDA
  12. To uphold the Equalities and Diversity Policy of the Shropshire Housing Group.
  13. To take responsibility for the health and safety of oneself and others in the workplace.
  14. To carry out any other duties this might be reasonably expected to be undertaken from time to time commensurate with the grade and general nature of the post. The employer will place particular reliance on this duty during incidents of an emergency nature.
  15. To comply with Health and Safety Regulations.
  16. To comply with the Customer Care Policy.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.   Attend meetings and training as required

2. Assist your Manager to identify your training issues as part of your ongoing supervision and professional development.

3.   Liaise regularly with colleagues as appropriate across the business in order to inform your work practice and contribute to service development.

4.   Contribute to departmental and sectional operational plans.

5.    You should be prepared to work flexibly and to meet the requirements of the job and opening hours, including evening and weekend working.

6.   Use information technology as required to carry out the duties of the post.

7.   Uphold the Equalities and Diversity policy of the association and have an understanding and commitment to anti-discriminatory practices.

8.   Take responsibility for the health and safety of oneself and others in the workplace, particularly in respect of:

  • Accident reporting
  • Lone working procedures
  • Risk management                                                    

9.    Ensure compliance with requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998 and follow the Group’s procedures relating to confidentiality.

10.  To undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time commensurate with the grade and general nature of the post.

 Hold current valid driving license  
 Hold certification to operate Plant (mini digger,dumper,roller)   
 Abrasive wheel training   
Hold appropriate CSCS card
